This chapter describes best practices for enabling accessibility in our product – MAM4PRO. Accessibility is about inclusion, that is, a person with a disability can perform the same task as a person without that disability. Making an accessible control should be as fundamental as making it secure, high-performing, or easy-to-understand.
Layout Accessibility
MAM4PRO interface is built to enable the user to quickly and effectively perform the required actions. For that, the interface has a panel-orientated design that enables the user to fully customize the size and position of each panel on the screen. At any time, users can edit the profiles and adapt MAM4PRO panels to the size and position they need.
Metadata Locators
The metadata feature is enabled with keyboard shortcuts so the user can easily relate F1 to F9 function keys with Metadata Value. This way the system will automatically insert the metadata annotations, allowing the user to easily manage it through the keyboard.
VTR Player Shortcuts
VTR Player is managed with ctrl+R (to start recording) and crtl+S (to stop the recording) so the user can easily control it using the keyboard.
Fonts
MAM4PRO uses simple, easy to read font (Arial, Times, Tahoma, etc.) There is no color, shapes or placements in the font appearance so the user can easily identify its meaning.
Colors
Since some colors like red and green often appear grey to people who are colorblind, the system uses grey, black and white main colors to avoid any issue. As for the Red and Blue button for Recording and Stop, the system also describes the status of the system with the textual descriptions “Recording” and “Ready”.
The system enables the user to choose between 2 color contrast options. With the options “High Contrast” and “Default” the user can setup the ideal contrast between text and background colors according to his specific needs.
Images
Icon images are accompanied by a tooltip that includes the textual description of its capability.
Readable PDFs
Product manuals are displayed in a PDF readable by a screen reader.
Please note that although we aim to ensure the maximum accessibility capabilities in our system, some users may experience some difficulty due to incompatibilities with assistive technologies.
